Adult multidisciplinary medical center project in Tashkent, the press service of the Ministry of Health said. The project is being financed by the Eximbank of Korea and the Economic Development and Cooperation Fund (EDCF).

The project’s contract was signed between the Health Minister Asilbek Khudayarov and the Kyeryong consortium, the selected general contractor, after which construction work officially commenced.

The total project cost is $149.8 million, $124 million of which is financed by an EDCF loan through the Eximbank of Korea, and $25.8 million is Uzbekistan's contribution.

The project will include the construction of a modern, 300-bed, level IV hospital that meets international standards. Once operational, the center will create over 700 jobs.

In addition, there are plans to send 130 Uzbek medical workers to South Korea for advanced training and hire 32 highly qualified Korean specialists to work in Uzbekistan.

The new center will be able to perform up to 8,500 high-tech surgeries annually, covering cardiac surgery, transplantation, neurosurgery, rehabilitation, and the treatment of spinal and joint diseases.

Reportedly, the National Children's Medical Center was erected in Uzbekistan in 2020 with the participation of the EDCF. It is "unique in Central Asia in its capabilities and focus.
