The Foreign Ministry welcomed the agreement on a ceasefire in Gaza Strip and the release of hostages. "Uzbekistan welcomes the agreement on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of hostages, reached with the direct involvement of the US President Donald Trump," the statement said.

The ministry also commended "the coordinated efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, which played a significant role in this important process, which creates the preconditions for a swift end to the violence, alleviation of the humanitarian crisis, and the resumption of political dialogue."

The Ministry reiterated that Uzbekistan "consistently advocates for a lasting and just peace in the Middle East, based on international law and UN Security Council resolutions."

"We are convinced that the ceasefire should not be a temporary measure, but a step toward a long-term political settlement that guarantees security, sustainable coexistence, and the restoration of trust between the parties," the statement added.

In conclusion, the ministry confirmed Tashkent's readiness "to continue to provide constructive assistance to international efforts aimed at achieving peace, stability, and humanitarian relief in the Middle East."

US President Donald Trump announced yesterday that Israel and Hamas had agreed to implement the first phase of his Gaza peace plan. This phase entails the release of all Israeli hostages and the withdrawal of Israeli troops to the agreed-upon line. Abdulaziz Kamilov, the Uzbek president's foreign policy adviser, supported this initiative.

The US presented a 20-item plan to end the war in Gaza at the end of September. It includes 20 items and calls for the release of all Israeli hostages, the withdrawal of Israeli troops, an amnesty for Hamas members if they leave the Strip, the deployment of an international force, and the establishment of an external administration.

Israel launched an operation in Gaza since October 2023, following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas that killed at least 1,200 Israelis and took approximately 200 more hostages.
