The Cabinet of Ministers issued a Resolution Friday simplifying vehicle compliance with environmental standards.
The Resolution has scrapped environmental inspection for new vehicles, including for M (passenger) and N (trucks) categories that are imported into Uzbekistan.
Now, their compliance with environmental requirements will be based on the 2017 General Technical Regulation, approved.
The Resolution specifically stated that electric vehicles (except hybrid vehicles) shall not be subject to environmental inspection.
Vehicle compliance with Euro 4 and higher emission standards will be tested:
- when issuing a certificate of conformity, based on attached documents;
- when granting type approval, through emission standard analysis in an accredited laboratory, and if one is not available, also based on attached documents.
To identify the emission class, the manufacturer or applicant must provide one of the following documents:
- legislation of the manufacturing country prohibiting the production of vehicles below Euro-4 standards;
- an official letter from the manufacturer or its representative;
- other technical documents confirming compliance with the standard.
However, issuing documents of compliance shall be prohibited if a vehicle fails to meet the Euro-4 or higher standards.
