The President Mirziyoyev signed a decree on Monday which provides for that socially and economically significant business entities will receive the public interest entity (PIE) status. Additional requirements will be outlined in the financial reporting, audit and management of such companies.
The PIE category will be assigned to companies based on the nature of their business and their size, and a wide range of stakeholders. The exact criteria will be outlined by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Central Bank.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance will commence to form the PIE register from January 1, 2026. The Central Bank will add entities under its supervision. The register will be published annually before July 1 on a single platform of the government portal and the open data portal.
From January 1 of the year following the year of inclusion in the register, PIEs will be required to keep accounting records based on international financial reporting standards (IFRS), and, based on the results of the next (second) year, they shall draft financial statements and publish them together with an auditor's report in line with IFRS.
