The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with the King of Jordan Abdullah II ibn al-Hussein in Samarkand, the presidential press service said.
The parties explored the ways to advance political dialogue and cultural and humanitarian exchanges, increasing trade figures, economic and investment cooperation.
They stressed that the first high-level visit in the history of bilateral ties would open a new stage in bilateral cooperation and would allow it to reach the level of a comprehensive partnership.
The two leaders stressed that it was necessary to continue mutual support for initiatives within the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other international structures, dialogue between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries and interdepartmental contacts.
They also reiterated their readiness to significantly increase bilateral trade figures and implement joint investment projects and trade contracts.
The parties agreed to enhance cooperation in such areas as the chemical and textile industries, smart agriculture, geology, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, tourism and other industries.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to launch an intergovernmental commission and a Business Council and hold their first meetings by the end of the year. In the future, the parties will also hold an Uzbek-Jordanian business forum with the participation of leading companies and manufacturers of the two countries.
They expressed readiness was to step up cultural, educational and tourist exchanges, including through holding joint cultural weeks, concerts, expositions and exhibitions.
“The parties came to a consensus on the need to jointly promote the ideas of a tolerant and enlightened Islam. Shavkat Mirziyoyev highly valued the King’s Aqaba Process initiative, launched 10 years ago, and proposed holding one of the upcoming meetings of this important initiative in Samarkand,” the statement said.
Furthermore, the leaders agreed that the launch of regular flights between the capitals of the two countries and the introduction of a visa-free regime will contribute to the growth of business contacts and an increase in mutual tourist flow.
They exchanged views on current issues on the global and regional agendas also took place.
At the end of the negotiations, Abdullah II ibn al-Hussein invited Shavkat Mirziyoyev to visit Jordan.
