Uzbekistan, together with companies from Saudi Arabia and France, will implement a hazardous industrial waste management project, the press service of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change said.

The agreement was signed by the Deputy Minister of Ecology Zhusipbek Kazbekov, Development Director of Vision International Investment (Saudi Arabia) Kapil Lalwani and Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia of Suez International (France) Paul Bourdillon.

The project is valued at $78 million and will be implemented in three phases:

The first phase includes the construction of waste stabilization complexes and their placement in specialized landfills, as well as the organization of regional transmission stations.

The second phase will involve the development of an engineering project and pilot testing of equipment for the production of RDF fuel (fuel from waste), as well as units for combustion and thermal processing.

The third phase includes the construction and launch of a full-fledged enterprise for the production of RDF and thermal processing of waste. Suez International from France specializes in water and waste management, including hazardous waste, and operates in Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, the United States, Africa, and the Middle East.
