The State Security Service (SSS) together with law enforcement agencies halted the activities of illegal religious schools where children were subjected to physical violence allegedly for teaching purposes.
The first case was stopped in Andijan province. A surgeon at the children's multidisciplinary medical center in Andijan contacted law enforcement agencies. He told about a boy who was admitted with wounds all over his body and head.
Law enforcement officers found that six months ago, a child from the Kashkadarya province was sent to illegal religious training by a 40-year-old resident of the Asaka district. During the classes, she repeatedly beat the child on the head and other parts of the body with wooden sticks, a charger cable, and other objects.
A criminal case was opened on this fact under Torture committed against a minor who was obviously in a helpless state for perpetrator charge.
The next case was recorded in the Khorezm province. A 44-year-old resident of the Khanka district, together with her daughter, without having a religious education, set up a religious school in her home. In this school, they taught 16 minors, the fee was 1 million soums per child. Children who did not cope with their studies were systematically beaten.
Offence papers were drawn up against these persons under Violation of the procedure for teaching religious doctrines charge, and a criminal case was also opened under the same charge.
Administrative protocols were drawn up against the parents of eight minors under Failure to performance obligations to raise and educate children charge.
Another case was suppressed in the Namangan province. A 68-year-old resident of the Davlatabad district, without having the appropriate religious education, taught eight minors at his home.
The man was held liable under the same charge of the Administrative Code. The children's parents were held liable under the Failure to performance obligations to raise and educate children charge.
