The president Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the informal Turkic Summit in Budapest Wednesday, the presidential press service said.

The event, chaired by the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, was also attended by the presidents of Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkiye, as well as the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Kubanychbek Omuraliev.

At the beginning of his remarks, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that the intensification of geopolitical and geoeconomic differences, regional conflicts and the consequences of climate change are becoming an increasingly greater challenge for us.

“We consider it necessary to search for solutions to the most serious problems, based on the norms of international law, the UN Charter,” the head of state said.

“We support the efforts aimed at resolving the situation around Ukraine through diplomacy and negotiations,” the Uzbek leader said. He also underscored the contribution of the Turkish president to the negotiation process.

"We are all deeply concerned over the violation of the peace agreement and the resumption of hostilities in Gaza. A fair solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is impossible without implementing the Two-State principle for two peoples," the president Mirziyoyev.

In addition, he underscored that in the context of global and regional security, it was required to take into account the difficult situation in Afghanistan and jointly seek solutions. "The adoption of the Joint Statement on Afghanistan demonstrates the serious attention our organization pays to this issue," he added.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also put forward proposals for further cooperation within the framework of the OTS.

Last year, Uzbekistan proposed developing a Strategic Partnership Treaty, Eternal Friendship and Brotherhood of the Turkic States. "Today, the significance and relevance of this document have grown even more. Undoubtedly, the treaty will serve to further bring our peoples closer together and strengthen the long-term legal basis for our multilateral cooperation. I propose signing it at the Turkic Ssummit in Baku," the president said.

In the coming years, he underscored, it was necessary to significantly increase the share of mutual trade.

"To this end, we are putting forward initiatives to create the TURK-TRADE online platform and adopt a practical program to boost trade," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also called for the swift implementation of the One-Stop and Green Corridors systems to increase the volume of cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Corridor and simplify customs and border procedures. He underscored that in this area, it is planned to hold the International Forum on Multimodal Transport and Logistics of the Turkic States in November in Tashkent.

"The Turkic Investment Fund will certainly become an incentive to step up the flow of investment. We consider it necessary to organize a joint venture company to stimulate innovative projects. In this regard, it is advisable to create a Single Investment Portal, where the investment opportunities of our countries will be fully reflected," the head of state proposed.

In addition, the president underscored that it was necessary to raise cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation to a new level. He proposed to develop an Industrial Cooperation Program to create large production capacities in the chemical, energy, mining, light, pharmaceutical, leather and footwear, food and construction industries.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also proposed to develop a joint road map to prevent drought and environmental problems.

The president also proposed to hold the next meeting of the Council of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation in Uzbekistan.

In conclusion of his remarks, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that  the Alisher Navoi International Prize had been created three years ago for contribution to the unity of the Turkic world.

"It is gratifying that today this prestigious award is being awarded to the outstanding Turkish scientist, biochemist, Nobel Prize laureate Mr. Aziz Sancar. We are, of course, proud that this famous scientist is an honorary doctor of the National University of Uzbekistan,” the president said, expressing confidence that the award ceremony will inspire scientists of the Turkic world, including the youth of Uzbekistan, to conquer new scientific heights.

Following the summit, the Budapest Declaration was adopted, as well as a number of other documents on priority areas of cooperation.
