The seventh round of consultations between the Security Council of Uzbekistan and the Security Council of Kazakhstan took place in Tashkent.
The talks were chaired by the Uzbek President’s Security Aide Viktor Makhmudov and his Kazakh counterpart Gizat Nurdauletov. The Ministers of Internal Affairs, Defense, Emergency Situations, Security Services, and the chiefs of committees on religious affairs of the two countries also attended the meeting.
The parties discussed cooperation in preventing and countering international terrorism and religious extremism, ensuring law and order, and combating transnational organized crime. During the talks, they also touched upon the issues of deepening cooperation in the military and military-technical fields, as well as preventing and promptly responding to emergencies.
The delegations confirmed plans to expand cooperation in the field of security, as well as to improve the legal framework and develop bilateral working mechanisms for interdepartmental cooperation. Following the talks, the officials of the two countries signed a MoM, which set out measures to deepen and expand security cooperation.
