Drug use in public places could be criminalized in proposed amendments backed by the MPs in a second reading Monday.
The amendments have proposed administrative penalties for use of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, or potent substances in public places. While, criminal penalties have been endorsed to prevent the recurrence of these crimes.
illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances, as well as potent or toxic substances, will be consolidated into a separate chapter in the Criminal Code, as crimes against public health and the gene pool.
New provisions will be inserted into this chapter of the Criminal Code for:
- criminal penalties for sponsoring (patronizing) illegal drug trafficking through abuse of power (official authority);
- setting up and keeping illegal drug laboratories.
