Deputy Foreign Minister Olim Abdullayev met with Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braje in Riga on January 28. According to the Uzbek embassy, during the meeting, the Foreign Minister Braje voiced her readiness to consider establishing a permanent dialogue on labor migration and signing an migration agreement.
The parties pointed to the importance of bilateral cooperation in the field of labor migration, including regular consultations.
In addition, talks took place with the DG at the Consular and Diplomatic Facilities Directorate of the Latvian Foreign Ministry Agnes Kalnina.
She emphasized that Uzbekistan was Latvia’s important partner in the Central Asian region.
The parties voiced firm confidence that cooperation between the two countries in the field of labor migration is beneficial for both parties and has long-term prospects.
They agreed to hold consular consultations between the relevant departments of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs this year.
