The Uzbek Embassy in Russia has suggested that Uzbek labour migrants legalize their status. The diplomatic mission reminded that Uzbek nationals who are in the country illegally must legalize their legal status by April 30 to avoid possible negative consequences.
According to the Russian president’s decree, a “register of controlled persons” recorded by the Ministry of Internal Affairs took effect on February 5. This list includes foreign citizens who have committed migration-related administrative offenses.
Persons included in the register must either leave Russia or legalize their status by April 30. To do this, one must contact the territorial departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, branches of the “Passport and Visa Service” or, if in Moscow, the Sakharovo multifunctional migration center.
The so-called "amnesty period" will be in effect Until April 30, during which foreign citizens will not be subject to deportation, forced detention in special institutions, or entry bans.
At the same time, persons included in the register shall be deprived of a number of rights:
- Purchase and registration of real estate and vehicles.
- Marriage
- Registration of legal entities, companies, and individual entrepreneurship.
- Opening bank accounts and conducting financial transactions.
- Driving vehicles.
In addition, their minor children will be denied admission to educational institutions, including schools and kindergartens.
