Today at the Digital Almaty 2025 Forum: themed Industrial AI, the Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov presented Uzbekistan's AI Development Strategy 2030.
The title of the two-day Forum, which kicked off today, is Industrial AI: Technologies for a New Era. The Forum is expected to center on how artificial intelligence can improve the efficiency and safety of production processes.
PM Aripov said that in 2024 President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the Uzbekistan's AI Development Strategy 2030.
As part of this Strategy, the country has outlined the following goals:
- bringing the value of software and digital services developed on the basis of AI to $1.5 billion;
- setting up a network of AI scientific research labs;
- build modern high-performance server infrastructure for big data and AI models;
- join the Top 50 countries in the Government AI Readiness Index.
To successfully achieve these goals, the government has identified a number of key areas. These include the development of AI human resources and training of experts, as well as the fast-track implementation of AI in key sectors of the economy.
In addition, in cooperation with the UAE, the One Million AI Prompters project was launched, teaching young people the skills of working with AI requests.
According to the PM Aripov, certain results have already been achieved. For example, the Palm Pay payment system has been implemented at 12 stations of the Tashkent subway.
Digital identification services My ID and Uz Face have also been developed, and are being used in banks, payment systems and marketplaces.
Virtual assistants for consultations and receiving electronic services have been launched in the tax system and the public services portal.
The Lex AI platform, simplifying access to legal information, has been launched in test mode.
According to the adopted strategy, priority areas (banking, tax and customs, healthcare, agriculture, energy) for the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies have been identified. A portfolio of key projects has been formed on their basis.
A new system of support for startups and innovative projects in this area has been launched in the country since 2025. It is planned to develop joint acceleration and venture investment programs.
He underscored that in 2024, Uzbekistan climbed 17 positions to 70th in the world government AI readiness ranking. In the South and Central Asian region, the country ranked third, following India and Turkiye.
Abdulla Aripov emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the field of AI. At the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a regular expert meeting of the CIS countries on AI issues was proposed at a meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State on October 8, 2024.
On August 7-8, 2025, Samarkand will host the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence, to which leading experts and government representatives have been invited.
He added that Uzbekistan plans to integrate ethical standards in the field of AI in 2025.
