The chief of the Kyrgyz National Security Committee, Kamchybek Tashiev, at a meeting with teachers, professors and other higher workesr on Thursday said that Salim Abduvaliev, aka Salimboy, completely controlled the south of the country.

"Salimboy completely held the south of our country in his grip. In the south, all the bosses of organized crime groups, all major businessmen, even political figures and members of parliament consulted him," he said.

Kamchybek Tashiev added that Kyrgyzstan is now the only country in Central Asia and the post-Soviet space where "there are no organized crime groups."

Salim Abduvaliev was released on January 12 before his sentence term elapsed due to health reasons.

In March 2024, the Mirabad district criminal court found him guilty of illegal trafficking in firearms, ammunition or explosives and sentenced him to six years in a general colony.
