Uzbekistan Railways’ cargo division, Temiryulkargo opened its first representative office in Beijing, China, the Uzbekistan Railways said in a statement.
Reportedly, this will help expand the international presence of the company and open up new horizons for the development of multimodal transportation.
The opening ceremony took place as part of the visit to China on December 14-15 of the First Deputy Chairman of Uzbekistan Railways Hikmatulla Rakhmetov.
He held talks with the CEO of China Railway Urumqi Bureau Group, Guo Jian in the Xingjian Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR), as well as with the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Lianyungang Port, Wang Guochao.
The parties also discussed prospects for cooperation, the organization of multimodal transportation, increasing cargo turnover between Uzbekistan and China, as well as the formation of container block trains and touched upon the problem of delays and downtime of wagons and containers at border points in China.
