At the UN Climate Conference COP29 in Baku (Azerbaijan) today the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan and Masdar (UAE) signed a contract to implement a project to build a 1,000 MW wind power plant in the Uchkuduk district of the Navoi province, the press service of the Ministry of Energy said.
The plant will annually generate 3.5 billion kWh of power, which will save 1 BCM of natural gas and reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere by 1.4 million tons. During the construction process, it is planned to create from 600 to 800 jobs.
Projects with a total capacity of 1,497 MW have already been implemented in Uzbekistan In cooperation with Masdar - a wind power plant in Zarafshan (500 MW), as well as PV plants in Karmana (100 MW), Gallaaral (220 MW), Kattakurgan (220 MW) and Sherabad (457 MW).
In addition, PV plant projects are underway in the Alat district of the Bukhara province (250 MW) and the Guzar district of the Kashkadarya province (300 MW).
At the previous COP28 conference last year in Dubai, Uzbekistan and Masdar signed a strategic partnership agreement.
