At the third meeting of the Country Platform on October 10, organized by the Agency for Strategic Reforms, the Deputy Minister of Transport, Jasurbek Choriev spoke about the key parameters of the Tashkent to Andijan toll road project, developed jointly with the World Bank.

Reportedly, the construction period of the road itself will be 6 years and 3 months. 64% of the route will be new, and 36% of the road will be reconstructed. The length of the highway will be 314 km, it will be classified as category I-a (motorway) and will consist of six lanes.

The project will consist of three phases: the first phase will be the Tashkent-Angren section with a length of 78 km, the second - Angren-Pap (93 km), the third - Pap-Andijan (143 km). The road will have a cement concrete surface.

It is planned to build 102 structures on the toll road. The total length of the overpasses will be 1,122 m. The road is expected to include 10 tunnels with a total length of 33 km. The length of the longest tunnel will reach 6.79 km.

The construction of this highway is expected to reduce the travel time from Tashkent to Andijan by 2 hours 14 minutes compared to the current route. The cost of the project is estimated at $ 4.28 billion (in nominal prices of 2023).

The public-private partnership agreement for the construction of the road will be valid for 49 years.

$ 6.78 million contract was signed with a consortium of Ove Arup and Partners International, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Central Asia and Caucasus (UK) and CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang (Germany) to conduct pre-investment studies and consult on transactions in tender processes.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Transport, additional information about the construction of the road will be available after the development of the feasibility study (FS) of the project. After the tender and the development of the FS, some details may change.
