Standalone master plans will be developed for each of Tashkent’s 12 districts, the Tashkent city mayor Shavkat Umurzakov told Uzbekistan 24 channel.

On Wednesday, the draft master plan of Tashkent until 2045 was presented to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. It is planned that the city's territory will be divided into 3 zones: conservation, reconstruction and renovation. Environmental issues, the "15-minute city" principle and the development of the districts of the Tashkent province as a single agglomeration with the capital are taken into account.

According to the mayor, a working group under the Ministry of Construction had been developing a draft master plan for two years engagin specialists from Singapore, England, China and EU.

"Following the presentation, the president pointed to the need to make some alterations. After the approval of the master plan, the rules for all planned work will be clearly defined. The president also proposed developing master plans for each district, based on the needs of the city. The general plan will reflect the current appearance of the district, as well as its appearance in a year, five years and ten years, because our general plan has been developed until 2045,” the head of the capital's administration said.

Shavkat Umurzakov noted that in order to comply with the rules that will be approved by the master plan, it is necessary to train specialists.

“Architects, designers, district mayors will have to study foreign experience. The president instructed that, if necessary, architects should go abroad to study this experience. For the long-term training of specialists, the Tashkent mayor’s office, together with the Ministry of Construction, will create the Tashkent Urban Development Institute. I believe that this institute will allow us to train the necessary specialists,” he said.

The TM also pointed out the problem of traffic jams in the city. On the instructions of the president, the Ministry of Transport, together with the Tashkent mayor’s office, will create the Road Management Department. It will work within the framework of the self-sufficiency mechanism, solve road problems and receive a number of powers.

According to him, the president approved the plans developed by the working group.

“I think that the Tashkenters will begin to feel these changes in the coming days,” he said.
