The Legislative Chamber passed the State defense order Bill at its August 20 session and sent it to the Senate, the Xalq So’zi newspaper said.

The Bill was developed based on "the need to define the goal and objectives, build a single legal mechanism for regulating relations in the field of its formation and implementation, clarifying the powers of government bodies and regulate their relations."

It is reportedly aimed at regulating relations on issues of state defense orders related to ensuring security, preventing and handling emergency situations.

The Bill provides for the basic concepts in the field of state defense orders, goals and objectives, state regulation of the area, the formation and implementation of state defense orders, and confidentiality procedures.

The development of the document was provided for by the Jan 31, 2023 presidential decree of. The Defense Industry Agency under the Ministry of Defense was instructed to develop the bill and submit it to the Cabinet of Ministers by March 1.

According to the decree, the State Commission for Equipping the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan will be in charge of reviewing and approving defense orders. The state unitary enterprise Uztextreyd has been designated as the single agent for the purchase (import) of military and dual-use items (works, services) manufactured abroad within the framework of the state defense order.

The Legislative Chamber did not report on its website that it was reviewing the Bill. The document is also missing from the agenda, which is listed on the YouTube page of the lower house of parliament.
