President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Seok Yeol and his wife arrived in Uzbekistan on June 13 on a state visit, the press service of the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan reported. At the Tashkent airport the high-ranking guest was welcomed by the Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and other officials.

The visit will last until June 15. The President Yoon Seok Yeol is cheduled to hold talks with the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to discuss the ways do advance the special strategic partnership ties. In the Central Asia, South Korea has this level of ties only with Uzbekistan.

Yun Seok Yeol will also make a trip to Samarkand to get acquainted with the cultural and historical heritage of the city.

In an interview ahead of the visit, the South Korean president called Uzbekistan a “key partner” in the region. He assured that his country will “continue to work closely as a special strategic partner in social, economic and democratic development of Uzbekistan.”
