Uzbekistan exported $3.42 billion worth of gold in January-April 2024, the Statistics Agency said in a report. This is by 11.8% more than in the same period in 2023 ($3.06 billion). In April, gold sales stood at $758.3 million, in March - $1.35 billion, in February - $1.32 billion.

The share of gold in the country's total exports increased from 39.3% (in January-April 2023) to 40.3%.

In March, gold quotes rose from $2,250 to $2,328 per ounce (+3.4%) and continue to beat historical records. On May 21, the price of a troy ounce of gold updated its historical maximum on the New York Stock Exchange at $2,452.6; the year-to-date price increase was at 17.8%.

Uzbekistan's gold and foreign exchange reserves rose to $35.1 billion amid rising world gold prices. While, the physical volume of the precious metal in reserves decreased by 1.24 tons and remains at the minimum level since May 2022.

In March, Uzbekistan again became the world's top gold seller, selling 11 tons of gold. In February, the country sold 12 tons of precious metal.
