Chinese Hunan Industrial Equipment Installation is mulling a 171-kilometer toll road project in Uzbekistan. The proposal was discussed during a meeting between Surkhandarya province governor Ulugbek Kasimov and a delegation from the Chinese company. The project is a toll road parallel to the M41 highway, which connects Bishkek, Dushanbe, and Termiz.

The parties emphasized the importance of environmental and economic aspects in road construction and discussed the ways to minimize the displacement of settlements and trees, as well as mitigating the project's impact on nature.

The meeting concluded in a decision to collaborate and improve the project by engaging experts to address various aspects of the toll road's construction.

In addition to the Chinese company, Sojitz (a Japanese company) and Ronesans (a Turkish company) are also considering to bid for toll road construction projects in Uzbekistan. The discussion also included potential cooperation in implementing public-private partnership (PPP) projects in the transport sector.
