Tashkent hosted the 9th meeting of the Uzbekistan-Hungary intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation.

Uzbekistan and Hungary are developing mutually beneficial cooperation and are ready to further expand it, including in the field of energy, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Péter Szijjártó also noted that the volume of the two-way trade exceeded 100 million euros last year, and that Hungarian companies were ready to continue investing in Uzbekistan.

The two countries vowed to triple the joint investment fund to $150 million to support each project and are aiming to expand cooperation in the energy sector in the future.

The electronic publication also reported that Minister Peter Siyyarto met with Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Qudratov in Tashkent. In a joint statement, the ministers noted that trade has increased by 86 percent since 2010, the source said.

The parties commended the achievements of bilateral cooperation in the banking, pharmaceutical and educational sectors.
