Uzbekistan and Tajikistan vow to simplify transit freight transportation, the press service of the Tajik Ministry of Transport said today.
As part of the visit of president Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Tajikistan on April 18-19, the transport ministers of the two countries signed a Minutes of meeting (MoM) amending the intergovernmental treaty on international road transport of March 8, 2018.
According to the proposed amendments, permit forms shall be required for trucks during transit.
According to the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan, the changes will take effect after ratification of the MoM by both countries.
Today, 1,200 transit cargo transportations are completed across the territory of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
A large number of trucks were idle on the border of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan (checkpoint Fotekhobod - Oybek) in February According to drivers, this was due to the rise in price of a license to cross the border for trucks.
