President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Tajikistan Imomali Rahmon held talks in the Qasri Millat (The Palace of The Nation) state residence in Dushanbe.
The two leaders focused on the ways to advance the political dialogue, expansion of trade-economic cooperation, interregional relations and cultural-humanitarian exchange.
They reiterated their pursuit to continue constructive cooperation in the framework of regional bodies and international organizations in order to promote the interests of Central Asia and ensure its sustainable development.
They underscored that the signing of the historic Agreement on Alliance Ties was major upgrade to a new level of the Uzbek-Tajikistan relations.
In this sense, the highlighted that tapping the potential of alliance relations requires increasing the effectiveness of dialogues at all levels.
It should be noted that the volume of the two-way trade has increased 40 times in recent years, with the number of joint ventures increasing by 15 times.
The governments of the two countries were tasked with increasing the two-way trade to $2 billion, swiftly launching cross-border trade zones.
Business Forum took place on the eve of the visit, where a large portfolio of cooperation projects and trade agreements was finalized.
The parties also outlined specific plans for the implementation of cooperation projects. For this purpose, the potential of the joint investment company is expected to be tapped.
The importance of developing cross-border trade mechanisms and trade infrastructure in order to increase the volume of trade to 2 billion dollars was emphasized in the extended negotiations.
Afterwards the two leaders continued the negotiations with the participation of the official delegations of the two countries in an expanded format, where they thoroughly discussed the ways to deepen the strategic partnership and alliance ties between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, first of all, in the political, trade-economic, transport-communication and cultural-humanitarian spheres,.
- In recent years, as a result of active communication in the spirit of mutual trust and support, friendly relations between our countries have risen to an unprecedented level, - said Shavkat Mirziyoev.
Meanwhile, there is a huge potential and great opportunities for the further development of large-scale cooperation.
- In order to implement the historic agreement on Alliance Ties, which is being signed today, it is necessary to increase the effectiveness of dialogues between parliaments, governments, foreign political agencies, ministries and regions, - he added.
The importance of developing cross-border trade mechanisms and trade infrastructure was emphasized in order to increase the volume of the two-way trade to US$ 2 billion.
The leaders welcomed the firm agreements reached on joint implementation of important projects in energy, electrical engineering, metallurgy, mining, textile, pharmaceutical, agro-industry and other sectors to promote deep industrial cooperation.
The parties agreed to more actively support cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
