The Senate speaker, Tanzila Norbaeva hosted the visiting delegation headed by the Chair of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili on Monday. The parties touched upon various aspects of bilateral ties, focusing on trade, economic, and investment relations, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges, the press service of the Senate said.

The two-way trade between Uzbekistan and Georgia saw a 23% increase in 2023. The parties explored opportunities for joint projects in sectors such as transport logistics, banking and finance, and tourism. They acknowledged the importance of boosting cultural ties, recognizing the historical friendship between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Georgia.

They also emphasized on establishing regular dialogue between the two parliamentary bodies aimed at facilitating the implementation of agreements between the two countries. The sides agreed to strengthen the role of inter-parliamentary friendship groups in coordinating efforts and to enhance cooperation within international organizations.

The parties concluded the meeting with a commitment to enhance bilateral relations and exploring the ways for collaboration across various sectors, reflecting the countries’ shared goal to deepen ties and promote mutual development.
