Rector of the University of Journalism and Mass Communications Sherzod Kudratkhodzha spoke in an interview with Kirill Altman about people living in Uzbekistan who do not speak the Uzbek language.
He pointed out that people living in Uzbekistan, eating pilaf and samsa, and respecting the country, do not speak Uzbek.
This is either idiocy or a continuation of the colonial arrogant attitude towards the Uzbeks,” said Kudratkhuzha.
Meanwhile, Sherzod Kudratkhuzha noted that people who came from other countries to Uzbekistan after the 1966 earthquake, who then decided to stay in the country, had enough time to start speaking Uzbek. Speaking about people who do not know the Uzbek language, he recalled Karl Marx’s expression “or another person”:
There is an expression that belongs to Karl Marx or to another person, which says that the only two people who do not know the language of the country where a person lives are either occupier or an idiot, that is, a person unable to think, conceive or read.
Let them conclude for themselves whether they are occupiers or idiots. I've been to many countries and can speak 15-16 languages fluently, although I don't live there.
