On December 28, president Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree aimed at ensuring price stability for main food items, a government source told the Tashkent Times.
The decree extended until January 1, 2025 the effect of the zero import duty rate on goods, namely by-products of cattle, fish, milk, cream, butter, eggs, bananas, citrus fruits, fruits, onions and some vegetables, coffee, tea, vegetable oils, flour, cereals, flour and pasta, water, hair products , children's clothing and others.
The decree also established that during 2024, a zero customs duty rate will be applied on the import of fresh, chilled or frozen meat and poultry by-products (HS code 0207) specified in 0105, as well as sunflower, safflower and cottonseed oils and their fractions , unrefined or refined, but without changing the chemical composition (1512).
Until the end of 2024, the double customs duty rate will not apply to goods originating from countries with which trade and economic relations do not provide for most favored nation treatment.
The government commission in charge of attracting investment, industrial development and trade regulation has been instructed to submit proposals to the Presidential Administration by February 1 to prevent a sharp rise in sugar prices and ensure production stability.
While, before October 1, the commission must assess the effectiveness of the benefits applied and prepare proposals for their continued application.
