Minister of Road and Transport Development Sandangiin Byambatsogt met with the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Mongolia, Farhod Arziev stationed in China. The parties agreed to enter into an Agreement on air services and international road transport between the two countries in the near future.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister S. Byambatsogt expressed his intention, without wasting time, to update the intergovernmental “Agreement on Air Services” in line with the legal requirements of modern air services.
As S. Byambatsogt underscored that the signing the Air Services Agreement will help increase the number of transit passengers between the two countries and exchanges between Mongolia and Uzbekistan due to the transportation of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan.
Minister S. Byambatsogt emphasized that an Agreement on road transport will be entered into in the near future, and goods from Europe will be delivered through Uzbekistan and Mongolia to the eastern cities of China, and cargo from Mongolia and China through Uzbekistan will be delivered to Europe, Iran, Pakistan and the ports of the Indian ocean.
Ambassador Farhod Arziev noted that the development of the road transport sector and communications of the two countries is a priority for him.
“To date, the two-way trade between the two countries has reached $7 million. We want to expand trade in fruits and vegetables from our country, as well as meat, wool and cashmere products from Mongolia. Currently, citizens of the two countries can travel without a visa for 30 days,” Ambassador Arziev noted and emphasized the need to use this advantage to develop tourism and create favorable conditions for tourists.
Following the meeting, the parties decided to entered into an intergovernmental agreements on air communications and road transport between the two countries in the near future.
