The Uzbek President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the military unit in Surkhandarya on November 16, the presidential press service said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the conditions created in the military unit, military equipment and weapons used to protect the border. He pointed to the importance of the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, and touched on their manufacture.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev was reported on the ongoing work to increase the potential and strengthen the material and resource base of the armed forces, personnel readiness, management and maintenance of modern weapons systems and unmanned aerial vehicles.
He was shown a Turkish reconnaissance and strike unmanned aerial vehicle Bayraktar TB2 in flight.
Bayraktar TB2 (“standard bearer”) is a Turkish strike operational-tactical medium-altitude UAV with an internal combustion engine and a pusher-type propeller. A drone with 4 guided munitions on a sling can stay in the air from 12 to 24 hours. The maximum control range is up to 150 km. The development and production is carried out by the private company Baykar Makina, which is led by Selcuk Bayraktar, the son-in-law of Turkish President Recep Erdogan.
In January 2022, Uzbekistan launched the production of Lochin (Falcon) unmanned aerial vehicle. The drones were developed by the research and production center at the State Defense Industry Committee. Drones can be used for both military and civilian purposes.
