On September 5, Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the New Tashkent draft master plan. At the presentation, the president said: “If we don’t start this, in five years people will not be able to live in Tashkent.”
“For the first time in the 32-year history of Uzbekistan, we are implementing an exemplary project that meets international standards. It should remain for 300-400 years, for our grandchildren, great-grandchildren and so on. The next generation must continue [this project],” he said.
Almost 5 million people live and work in Tashkent. Taking into account the current rate of urbanization, the capital’s population will grow in the coming years. There is a need to build 20 thousand apartments, as well as more than 40 schools, kindergartens and clinics every year.
Projects for components of the New Tashkent city are being developed by 20 companies from Singapore, Great Britain, China, Germany, Turkey, the Netherlands, South Korea and the UAE.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to complete detailed design by the end of the year, to identify designers and construction organizations for the objects of the first stage of the project.
