Total area of the Tashkent-Eastern business aviation airport under construction will be reduced by 130 hectares. This was announced at a presentation by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on August 16, his press service reported.

Reducing the area will reduce the cost of maintaining the airport, the report said.

The airport’s general plan was finalized after the instructions of the head of state during his visit to the airport on July 20. Then it was reported that the total area of the airport would be 693 hectares.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to "very seriously and critically" review the project, review the appearance of the terminal and the facilities for receiving delegations.

The airport will have two terminals - for high-level guests and for business aviation, as well as parking for 25 aircraft, hangars, administrative and service buildings. The airport will be equipped with modern radio engineering and meteorological systems of class III-A according to ICAO standards, which will allow taking off and landing even in adverse weather conditions, the presidential press service said.

The project is being implemented in line with the presidential decree dating six years ago - June 30, 2017. The military transport aviation that was previously stationed at the airfield was redeployed. In December 2018, it was reported that the completion of the first phase of the project was scheduled for 2020.

Initially, it was planned to build two runways 4 km long, but in the end only one runway was left. By now it has already been built.

The timing of the launch of the airport is not reported.
