The draft Uzbekistan-2030 strategy and the steps for its implementation in 2023 set a number of goals for the green transition and a sharp leap in the use of renewable energy, Dunyo said.

Including:

- increasing renewable energy sources to 25,000 MW and their share in total consumption to 40%;

- developing the market of green certificates in the industry and introducing the practice of "eco-marking";

- it is planned to stimulate the processes of formation of ecofriendly infrastructure and introduction of "circular economy" practice at industrial enterprises.

9 GW solar and 5 GW wind total capacity plants will be built on the basis of public-private partnership, and 28 hydroelectric power stations with a capacity of 1.9 GW will be erected.

Natural gas consumption will be reduced through modernizing 3 thermal power plants with total capacity of 3 GW. A system of energy efficiency assessment (energyaudit) of apartments in high-rise buildings will be introduced.

According to the strategy, it is envisaged to completely switch public transport to clean fuel, create a monitoring system that covers all greenhouse gases, eliminate the shortcomings in the context of Green growth, and enhance the "formation of acceptable prices".
