Uzbek soum depreciated by over 450 soums to the US dollar to over 12 thousand soums for 1 USD in a number of Uzbek banks' exchange offices.

According to the Central Bank, the significant depreciation of the currencies of Uzbekistan’s main trading partners promted the soum’s depreciation.

"The central bank added that bank had sufficient instruments to prevent a sharp depreciation of the exchange rate in the future, and in necessary cases, the fluctuations would be mitigated by implementing additional interventions.

The Russian ruble depreciated against dollar at the 98 level for the first time since March 2022.
