The Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of transport, the Ministry of Transport said.

The document was signed during the recent official visit of an Uzbek government delegation led by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov to Tbilisi.

The MoU provides for the construction and long-term rent of sea terminals, as well as warehouses in the seaports of Georgia, cooperation in the field of civil aviation, development of road transport, joint research and application of innovations in the field of transport and infrastructure.

Reportedle, in 2022, the volume of Uzbekistan’s export-imports via the Georgian ports of Poti and Batumi (the delegation of Uzbekistan visited these ports on July 18) topped 864 thousand tons, which is by 72% more than in 2021 (503 thousand tons).

As reported earlier, the delegation included the Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov, the Minister of Construction, Batyr Zakirov, the head of the Uzeltekhsanoat, Mirziyod Yunusov, the head of Uzkimyosanoat, Timur Mukhamedzhanov, the chairman of the oilfield service company Eriell Group, the shareholder of Enter Engineering (one of the largest EPC contractors), Ferkensco (an investment company that manages the construction of agrochemical enterprises), Air Samarkand and other enterprises Bakhtiyor Fazylov and others.
