Uzbekistan delegation headed by Professor of the State University of World Languages Gulnoza Khallieva visited Sweden. During the trip, it was found that the libraries of the Uppsala and Lund universities in Sweden have 858 (more than 500 if duplicates are excluded) historical manuscripts relating to the Turkic peoples, Dunyo said.
Among them, in addition to well-known poets such as Alisher Navoi, Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, Fuzuli, Sufi Allayar, Mashrab, there are manuscripts of poets and translators that are still unknown to Uzbek researchers and the public. There are 25 manuscripts of Alisher Navoi alone.
These manuscripts were reportedly collected during the activities of Swedish missionaries in the 19th and 20th centuries, bought and later donated to the libraries of the universities of Lund and Uppsala.
During the meeting with Gulnoza Khallieva at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Sweden, the issue of more than 800 unique masterpieces stored in Swedish libraries was considered. It is planned to invite a group of our scientists to create a complete register, describe, restore documents to a usable condition and, if possible, return them to our country.
