The Mexican National Institute of Migration (NIM) helped 14 migrants from Uzbekistan who were traveling overcrowded in a van that overturned early Thursday morning while driving on the Villa Comaltitlán-Ejido Hidalgo highway section, in the state of Chiapas.
One more person, with the support of local Civil Protection personnel, was transferred as an emergency to a nearby hospital to receive emergency treatment for the injuries he had; he is unconscious and his condition is reported as serious. Officers of the INM Beta Group are in the hospital to provide support and assistance.
Federal Migration Agents, Child Protection Officers (CPO) and members of the National Guard (NG) responded to the call of the Municipal Police of Villa Comaltitlán to support a group of foreigners -whose language was not understandable.
The NIM in the state of Chiapas confirmed that there were 13 men and one woman of legal age from Uzbekistan, who were illegally staying in the country, for which they were taken to the institute's offices to initiate the relevant administrative procedure.
