The Ministry of Energy unveiled some details of the supply agreement of Russian gas, which was signed on June 16 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Road map was signed in annex to the agreement to prepare Uzbekistan’s gas transmission system for acceptance and transportation of Russian gas.

The statement of the Ministry of Energy specified that the gas sale agreement was entered into by UzGasTrade and Gazprom Export for a period of two years. It was signed by the Minister of Energy Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov and CEO of Gazprom Aleksey Miller.

“The agreement was drafted entirely on commercial terms and is one of the measures to partially satisfy the annually growing demand for natural gas from consumers of Uzbekistan, as well as to pass the autumn-winter season without interruptions,” the report says.

As part of the agreement, a daily 9 million cubic meters of gas will be supplied to begin on October 1. The annual volume will reach 2.8 billion cubic meters, the Energy Ministry said.

“The price of natural gas has been based on market prices in the region, current prices in the country, as well as planned reforms to form prices based on market conditions,” the ministry said.

“Given that earlier natural gas was supplied to Russia in transit through Kazakhstan via the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline and now gas will be supplied in reverse mode to Uzbekistan, as well as the need to build new gas measuring stations on the territory of Uzbekistan,“ road map” it is planned to complete the planned activities by September, ”the message says.

3 units of gas pumping equipment it is planned to replace in Uzbekistan’s gas transportation system, and 11 units of various gas pumping equipment to be overhauled, as well as the construction of 22 km of new main gas pipelines and the repair of 56 km of gas pipelines shceduled, the Ministry of Energy reported.

Earlier, the Russian newspaper Kommersant reported that the parties agreed to supply about 6 billion cubic meters of gas per year, or about 18 million cubic meters per day, with the volume of supplies adjusted every year.
