Sentences to 12 police officers who beat convict to death announced in Andijan. Another prisoner was also sentenced for brutally beating the convict beaten earlier by police officers.

On March 19, 2022, Sanjarbek Mamajonov, 32, who lived in Shakhrikhan district of Andijan province, was taken to the pre-trial detention center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in connection with the replacement of his punishment in the form of corrective labor with imprisonment by the court. In the pre-trial detention center, he was tortured and severely beaten by 12 police officers.

As noted in the court verdict, instead of providing medical assistance to a prisoner who received life-threatening injuries as a result of the beating, he was placed in the 32nd cell of the pre-trial detention center. The man, who was in pain, quarreled with another prisoner, Jasurbek Usmanov, as a result of which he was beaten again. Approximately three and a half hours after this incident, Mamazhonov's biological death was recorded.

In court, the guilt of the defendants was confirmed by irrefutable evidence and testimonies of witnesses. According to the verdict of the court, the defendants were sentenced to the following punishments:

• Umidjon Abdurasulov, assistant head of pre-trial detention center No. 3 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, head of the shift - imprisonment for 4 years;
• Javlon Rezhapov, Senior Inspector of the Order Enforcement Department of Detention Facility No. 3 - 4 years' imprisonment;
• Elyorbek Rakhmonov, head of the corps - imprisonment for 4 years;
• Madaminjon Jamolov, senior warder of the law and order department - imprisonment for 4 years;
• Sardorbek Ibragimov, senior warder of the law and order department - imprisonment for 4 years;
• Mansurbek Mamatkarimov, senior warder of the law enforcement department, was also sentenced to 4 years.

Also guilty of this crime were found and convicted:

• Chief of pre-trial detention center Gulomjon Gopporov for 3 years;
• Zuhriddin Shoburkhanov, head of the corps of the department for ensuring order for 3 years;
• Inomzhon Imoldinov, senior operative of the department of operational investigations for 3 years;
• Inspector of the Order Enforcement Department Jahongir Madaminov for 3 years;
• Allamamatov Tukhtakul, head of the treatment and prevention department for 3 years;
• Shukurillo Alimov, a psychiatrist at the medical and preventive department, was sentenced to 3 years of restraint of liberty.
• Jasurbek Usmanov, a prisoner who beat the deceased in his cell, received 4 years and 1 month in prison.

Of the 12 former employees found guilty by the court in the death of Sanzharbek Mamazhonov, 10 were deprived of the right to work in the internal affairs bodies for a year and a half, and 2 for a year.
