On May 24, the Tashkent Metro State Unitary Enterprise and STIE, a company from Singapore, signed an agreement on the development of the Tashkent metro at the Uzbekistan-Singapore business forum in Tashkent. The forum took place as part of the state visit of the President of Singapore, Halimah Yakub.

The agreement stipulates providing consultancy on design, construction of new lines and stations, development and modernization of the transportation infrastructure of Tashkent metro. The timeline for the project is 2023-2026.

According to STIE's website, the company is "a leading provider of engineering, construction and maintenance solutions in Singapore and beyond." Existing for 20 years, the company also offers integrated facility management services and cloud solutions.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) under the Enterprise Singapore Agency of the Ministry of Trade and Industry have signed a cooperation agreement to promote doing business, master planning and a green economy.

The Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade and Wilmar International agreed to cooperate on the implementation of a project to create a representative office and a distribution hub in Uzbekistan.

Wilmar is an agro-industrial group with manufacturing plants and an extensive distribution network in several countries. The company owns and operates several factories for the production of palm oil, edible oils, is one of the largest producers of wheat and rice, cane and beet sugar, produces fertilizers and other products.

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and the international network of colleges PSB Academy have agreed to cooperate on the creation of a modern Singaporean educational institution in Uzbekistan.

Fergana province governor’s office and Enercon Asia will cooperate in the field of electricity generation by creating autonomous power plants and installing solar panels for commercial use at production facilities in Fergana province. The parties have already discussed cooperation in March of this year, during the visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Singapore, an agreement was signed on the construction of a 100 MW PV plant worth $100 million with Enercon Asia.

To implement this project, it is planned to install solar panels on 723.7 thousand sqm of roofs of 28 large enterprises in Tashkent to produce 175 million kWh of electricity per year, with an annual electricity demand of these 28 enterprises of 211 million kWh.

In Fergana province, it is also planned to set up a joint venture for the production of precast concrete structures with Robin Village, which is one of the leading manufacturers of reinforced concrete and prefabricated structures in Singapore.

As reported earlier that Singapore-based Changi Airports International will help develop a feasibility study for the new Tashkent airport, as well as provide advice to optimize the operation of the existing airport.
