The Russian Metrovagonmash plant, which is part of Transmashholding (TMH), is to supply 56 cars, or 14 trains, for the Tashkent metro this year.
TMH’s CEO Kirill Lipa during a panel session at the Innoprom. Central Asia in Tashkent said: "Now on our table is a signed and supply contract for over 50 metro cars and which is being executed."
He added that the holding has been a traditional partner of the Tashkent Metro since its opening in 1977.
The press service of the metro confirmed that 14 new trains were due this year, which would be distributed depending on the workload.
In 2019-2021, the Tashkent metro received 60 cars from Metrovagonmash worth total of 91.3 million euros. This made it possible to form 15 new trains and reduce the intervals of movement.
supplies were financed through loans from the state corporation VEB.RF, JSC Russian Export Center, Roseximbank and Uzbekistan’s state budget.
Transmashholding is one of the two largest manufacturers of rolling stock for rail transport in the world.
