Three-year-old boy died in Urgut district of Samarkand province, falling into a ditch in front of the house, the Emergencies branch of the province reported.
Reportedly, the water level was low, but sufficient to carry the child some distance. He was discovered and taken by the locals. They called an ambulance, but the toddler died of suffocating.
The Emergencies Ministry denied reports on social networks that the boy was washed away by water as a result of a mudflow caused by heavy rainfall. The level of precipitation on the day of the incident was 12-13 mm, said a representative of the ministry.
