The Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights will check the Russian Yandex Go taxi ride hailing, food package delivery service on the anti-trust grounds, the press service of the department said.
The Committee in October 2022 began analyzing taxi services. In February 2023, requests were sent to the owners of Yandex Go service: Yandex N.V. (Netherlands), Yandex Europe AG (Switzerland) and Ridetech International B.V. (Netherlands).
The agency requested data on the number of users of the app (drivers and customers), the total number of transactions and passenger transportation, the gross merchandises value (GMV) and information on the size and distribution of commissions received by the Yandex Go service for 2022.
The Committee draws attention to the fact that the absence of a legal entity of Yandex in Uzbekistan creates certain difficulties in the antitrust regulation of the company's activities.
“The findings of the analysis will be additionally announced by the committee through the media,” the press service added.
The officials of Yandex Go said that such requests are regular international practice from state bodies of different countries. "The request in question was sent to the Antitrust Department of Uzbekistan as part of the analysis of the taxi services. We are in touch with the Committee and are ready for cooperation, we will provide answers in the established deadlines and fully," the company's press service said .
In April 2022, the Ministry of Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan proposed Yandex Go to become a resident of the Tashkent IT park.
Yandex Go has been operating in Uzbekistan since April 2018. Now the service is available in Tashkent and five more cities.
