Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the 18th round of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Uzbekistan and Germany on Tuesday.
The delegations of the parties were headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Gairat Fozilov and Commissioner of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia Matthias Luttenberg.
During the event, the parties discussed in detail the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, issues of expanding political relations, and the schedule of upcoming contacts at various levels.
They focused on active promotion of economic diplomacy, including by attracting German investments and technologies to the implementation of projects in Uzbekistan, increasing exports of goods produced in the country to Germany.
The parties made an inventory of the signed bilateral documents, reviewed the current state of the contractual and legal framework, as well as the progress in the previously reached agreements, and also exchange views on building up cultural and humanitarian ties, in particular in the field of education and healthcare.
Issues of interaction between Uzbekistan and Germany through international organizations and financial institutions were discussed. The German officials expressed readiness to further expand cooperation in the Uzbekistan-Germany-EU format, including within the framework of the initiative of the German Foreign Ministry: Green Central Asia and the EU strategy for Central Asia.
