During the state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kyrgyzstan, protocols were exchanged on amending and supplementing the intergovernmental agreement on trips of citizens of the two countries, signed by the governments of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan on October 3, 2006.
Now all citizens of Uzbekistan will be able to enter Kyrgyzstan with ID-cards, and the citizens of Kyrgyzstan can visit Uzbekistan in the same way.
Information about citizens crossing the border shall be recorded electronically, seals on passports shall not be required.
This procedure will apply when crossing the border by any means of transport - planes, trains, cars, buses. It will take effect after approval by both countries. This is expected to take approximately two months.
This will make life easier for fellow countrymen living in areas that are exclaves. Kyrgyzstan is the first country with which the procedure for crossing the border using ID-cards has been established.
