Couple who married 28 days ago died of carbon monoxide poisoning in Kattakurgan district of Samarkand province. This information, posted by the human rights activist Abdurakhman Tashanov, was confirmed by the spokesman of the Prosecutor General's Office Khayot Shamsutdinov.
Abdurakhman Tashanov said that at midnight the gas was turned off and then turned on again. “When the fire went out, the sleeping bride and groom were poisoned by gas. In the morning they were found dead in their house. The district gas department drew up an act accusing the homeowners of non-compliance with safety regulations,” he said.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, a 26-year-old male and the 18-year-old female died on January 18 in Altynsay village. Close relatives buried them on the same day.
“However, no information about the death of the bride and groom was received by the police department of the Kattakurgan district and the medical association. It was established that the relatives of the victims did not notify the police and other organizations about this incident,” said Khayot Shamsutdinov.
As a result, service checks were appointed at the Kattakorgan district police department, the neighbourhood and family support department of the district mayor’s office, the women's support department and at Samarkand Khududgaz enterprise.
The prosecutor's office of the Kattakurgan district is inspecting the scene to determine the causes of death.
At the end of last year, in Buvaida district of Ferghana province, a couple, who married a few days ago, also died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
