On March 31, Otabek Nazirov was appointed adviser to the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade/Director General of Direct Investment Fund of Uzbekistan, the MIFT reported.
Since January 2019, Atabek Nazirov has served as the director of the Capital Market Development Agency.
Otabek Nazirov, 46, graduated from the New York University with a degree in macroeconomics. He worked at Goldman Sachs Group, The Avascent Group, JPMorgan Chase in the USA and Troika Dialog and MDM Bank in Russia. He held the position of Senior Regional Banker of the Industrial Investment Support Department at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
In 2018 he was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Innovative Development, then as Deputy Minister of Public Education.
The Direct Investment Fund was set up to invest in competitive domestic companies, as well as to build long-term mutually beneficial partnerships with private national and foreign co-investors.
The Fund was founded by the Uzbek Fund for Reconstruction and Development, and is coordinated by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.
