By the end of 2019, the total nominal value of securities issued in Uzbekistan is at 92.35 trillion soums. Of these, only 1.5% or 1.4 trillion soums, or less than 0.4% of GDP, is in free circulation.

By comparison, in Singapore it is 188%, in Malaysia - 112%, and in Russia - 34%.

This was announced at the presentation of the draft capital market development strategy for 2020-2025.

The main goal of the strategy is to elevate the share of securities in free circulation of GDP to 10% (US$ 6 billion) in five years.

In addition, in Q1 of 2025 Uzbekistan aims to be included in the Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) Emerging Markets Index.

Uzbekistan is expected to join the IOSCO International Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Mutual Assistance and Exchange of Information in Q4 of 2021.
