On November 11, 2019, in Brussels the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Abdulaziz Kamilov and the Director General of the European Commission for International Cooperation and Development, Koen Doens signed agreements on financing technical assistance projects “Accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan into the World Trade Organization” and “Development contribution of the EU to the Multi-Partnership Trust Fund for Human Security for the Aral Sea region”.
The amount of grant funds provided under the project on the Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO is 5 million euros. The project provides assistance to Uzbekistan in the process of joining the WTO as a whole, including the preparation of the necessary documents, increasing the knowledge of Uzbek specialists on the WTO agreements and the international trading system.
Grant funds for the project of the Multi-Partner Trust Fund (5.2 million euros) will be used to implement the fund's projects in the Aral Sea region.
