Total assets in Uzbekistan's banking system reached 1,016.6 trillion soums as of August 1, 2026, up 19 percent from the same date a year earlier, the Central Bank said in a report. A year earlier, the figure stood at 852.4 trillion soums.
Bank lending also continued to expand, rising from 576.2 trillion soums to 644.6 trillion soums, a 12 percent annual increase. As a result, credit directed to the economy grew by nearly 68.4 trillion soums over the year.
The sharpest growth was seen in deposits. Total deposits held by banks climbed from 360.4 trillion soums to 482.7 trillion soums, a 34 percent increase — meaning deposit volumes in the banking system grew by more than 122 trillion soums over the past year.
The banking system's total capital rose from 127 trillion soums to 150.6 trillion soums, up 19 percent.
The Central Bank noted that deposits are growing faster than lending, a trend that is helping banks expand their base of domestic funding resources.
